For the new project in La Marina, a 33-meter-wide tree-lined promenade which will link the PAI del Grao with the Veles e Vents area as part of the remodeling of the environment of the Shed 2. This project will include more than 23,000 m2 of green space that will be combined with the new PAI del Grao, which is expected to be approved in 2023.

The future greenwalk of La Marina, carried out by Grupo Aranea and El Fabricante de Espheres, also proposes a set of urban dunes, made of cobblestones, which undulate at different heights, and are designed as places to sit and rest, thus imitating the orography of the dunes.

“Nature, city, heritage and water combine in a balanced way in the design of this space, paying exquisite attention to visuals, volumes and uses, designing a green coastal infrastructure with native plant elements, capable of articulating with the urban fabric and at the same time isolating the visitor from road traffic“, said the Valencia 2007 Consortium in a statement.

The project promises the area of Tinglado 2 with a more human and pedestrianised essence. “The itineraries for accessing the dock have been taken into account, as well as the programming of events that require special access, allowing them to coexist with the landscaped walking area“, the Consortium said in a statement.

The proposal is supported by an exhaustive study prepared by the IDOM consultant, which has been based on the identification and definition of the traffic and parking scheme in La Marina de Valencia. It has also had the participation of several City Hall areas, such as Lighting, Public Mirror or Traffic, thanks to which the improvements that the new scheme proposed in the project will entail were created.

What is all this due to?

The origin of the project is created during the summer of 2019 when Valencia Consortium 2007 proposed an innovative competition to select the team that could develop the pedestrianization and humanization project in the environment of Tinglado 2.

Instead of a defined and closed project, the specifications wanted a working methodology that would give great importance to human factor and to the improvement of public space, and in addition, that it will manage to connect the sea with the city. Thus putting in value The historic Tinglado 2, through a process of creativity and citizen participation.

The contest included the participation of a Twenty of very national and international studies innovators in the area of urbanism, of which the couple formed by the Alicante studio Grupo Aranea and the Valencian company specialized in heritage, architecture and urban planning El Fabricante de Espheras was chosen, with a multidisciplinary team of 17 collaborators specialized in fields such as gastronomy, psychology, photography or social action.

This entire collaborative project, to which more than a year has been dedicated, plus the subsequent work of collecting and analyzing information, has resulted in a disruptive proposal whose execution would result in I'll start in the coming months, as soon as the tender for the execution of the project is published.
